Healthy Habits
It might not be a surprise to hear that we are governed by our daily rituals - no will power or thoughts needed for about 40% of our habits 24/7.
Think about the pattern of your day and check out which behaviors your brain has turned into a habit for you!
This is me:
Brush teeth - no brainer
Fave hoody or legging - yep
Bit grumpy if your espresso cup not in the cupboard - err yep
Same breakfast till you’re sick of the sight of porridge - bingo
Glass of wine every night since Lockdown - ho hum
Pissed off as no chocolate in the house - most evenings since the above - GUILTY
And so on….Behaviours good and bad that become as clockwork as erm clockwork = habits.
What they all have in common is that we don’t have to really motivate ourselves to do them. For example I really don’t have to think for more than one second about any of the above, it's just me and I do what I do.
I have realised that I love habits, especially embracing new ones and binning the bad ones. I think it is probably my only skill in life, but this is not the same for everyone.

Lots of you have fed back to me that lemon water is something that you have done for a while without thinking and without any motivation required to do it.
This happens when we can feel a benefit from something, and it gives us pleasure so we do it without thinking.
When motivation is NOT needed to maintain a habit then you know you are onto a winner. Think of all those crazy diets that make you feel like a loser because you lose motivation by day 4 - we are not going there trust me!
