Let's Walk
Your Daily walk. A simple practice.
We have two dogs that demand a daily walk or two, and that’s ok with me because I love a walk - and of course the dogs need to get out and have a play.
Lockdown might have encouraged you to walk more, and if that resonates I hope you had some lovely walks in the last few weeks irrespective of being a dog owner or not.
There is so much evidence now to show that moderate walking has significant health benefits, for the skeleton, joints, and all our major organs, and in fact walking has been said to be the perfect exercise.
Another little tip that you might like especially if you feel that you should be doing more strenuous workouts….if you are carrying a bit of extra weight and low in oestrogen a really hard workout can actually make hot flushes and night sweats even worse.
Nice to know that it might suit you better to walk really briskly than go running!! There you go. Happy days!
there is nothing like a walk and talk with a friend or loved one.
When you are walking side by side with someone you love or trust you can talk freely without eye contact to unravel worries or share difficult thoughts. I have always found walking a powerful antidote to low mood and ‘black dog’ days.
So I hope you enjoy this week’s challenge which will be a doodle for many of you, and something you do everyday already.
If you already walk everyday why not spice up your walks with a few squats and lunges at the start and end of your walk, or speed up the tempo with a great arm swing!

This challenge this week is simple -
Your daily walk
Enjoy a daily walk
Aim for an hour a day that you could split into two!
Perfection would be 30 minutes as part of your morning routine
And then 30 minutes after your evening meal
Go solo or grab a friend to join you
Throw on your trainers and march it out!
